What to look for in a container forklift?

You can achieve the same results with a Mobicon that you can with a forklift however there are some added benefits to your container handling operations with a Mobicon Straddle Carrier.

Unlike forklifts or reach stackers, the weight of the container is evenly spread out over the 8 wheels of the Mobicon Straddle Carrier, resulting in a very low wheel weight, while still allowing you to move containers around your yard or depot in the same fashion as with a forklift.

The relative low purchase price of a Mobicon is also much less than that of a comparative forklift. Existing customers report significant cost savings since purchasing a Mobicon.

In addition, unlike container forklift trucks and reach stackers, which have huge axle loads, Mobicons can work on most concrete, bitumen, pavers or compacted gravel surfaces. Most surfaces that are suitable for a truck or trailer are suitable for the Mobicon.

What is the Mobicon used for?

There are 3 main ways in which a Mobicon Straddle Carrier can be used:

1.  As the only container handler on a site – small sites with 10 to 100 container moves per week i.e. Exporters (niche manufacturers, small primary producers), Importers (niche products) and Small Distribution Centres.

2.  As the primary container handler on a site (often with an empty container forklift) – medium sites with 50 to 200 container moves per week ie. Medium Sized Transport Hubs, Larger Importers/Exporters, Medium Sized Distribution Centres.

3.  As a supplementary container handler on a site (supporting one or many heavy container forklifts or reach stackers) – large sites i.e. Large Transport Yards or Container Parks and Large Distribution Centres.

A Mobicon Straddle Carrier might be exactly what you need.
